I was born as an expat living in Hong Kong, a slightly different setting than my parents’ home states of North Dakota and Minnesota. After nearly a decade abroad, I moved to California, then Massachusetts, then New York City. After sampling a variety of cities, towns, and regions across the country, I made a Venn Diagram of pros and cons to determine where I would make my forever home. Naturally, that led me to Oregon. I practiced in the Portland metro area for several years as a staff attorney at the St. Andrew Legal Clinic before realizing a long-time dream to relocate to the Oregon Coast, where I joined Coast Family Law.
I too am a child of divorced parents, though mine did not separate until I was an adult. I can attest that it is a difficult process at any age, both for the spouses and their children. If nothing else, my family’s journey underscored the value of a well-written parenting time plan that accounts for potential future obstacles and is able to adapt to that family’s needs as they inevitably evolve. I bring that forward-facing approach to all of my cases, working with my clients to understand and address their immediate concerns while building a framework that they will be able to rely on for years to come.
I truly enjoy my work. It is immensely satisfying to be able to use my legal training and trauma-informed background to guide my clients through the judicial system, providing stability and clarity during what is often one of the hardest periods in their lives, and achieving the best possible outcome for them and for their children, whether by negotiation or litigation.
When I am not in the office or the courtroom, you can usually find me strolling the dunes with my husband, Jamie, and our two rescue dogs, Bodhi and Rosa.
